First Michelin Star Awarded to The Restaurant at The Yeatman, Oporto.

The Restaurant at The Yeatman in Oporto, under the direction of Chef Ricardo Costa since its opening in summer 2010, has won its first Michelin star.

At the awards ceremony in Barcelona last night, The Restaurant at The Yeatman became one of only twelve Portuguese restaurants distinguished with stars in the 2012 edition of Michelin Spain and Portugal.

Chef Ricardo Costa previously worked in Casa do Calçada in Amarante, which had won a Michelin star - from there, he brought his distinctive talents to The Yeatman where he puts a contemporary twist on classical Portuguese flavours and dishes, working in harmony with the hotel's Wine Director Beatriz Machado to create bold and exciting tasting menus.

"I am delighted to receive a Michelin star as recognition of the work that my team and I do.  This is the ‘Oscars' of the Restaurant world, said Chef Costa, and we are excited to be able to showcase the very best Portuguese cuisine using local ingredients.  We look forward to welcoming everyone to our restaurant and special wine dinners."

The Yeatman Wins Best Wine List Award

 

Portuguese wine magazine “Revista de Vinhos” this year declared The Yeatman winner of the “Best Wine List” following over a hundred submissions from hotels and restaurants from across Portugal including The Azores and Madeira.

Compiled by the hotel’s Wine Director, Beatriz Machado, The Yeatman’s wine book lists the world’s most comprehensive choice of Portuguese wines as well as a wide selection from other great vineyards around the globe. Chapter 3 in the book celebrates the local terroir wines featured , include those from large estates to intriguing boutique wineries throughout Portugal. Most of these wines are provided by The Yeatman’s 63 Wine Partners. Some are only available in very small quantities other wines are exclusive to The Yeatman or are being showcased for the first time at The Yeatman.

The Yeatman also prides itself in possessing an unparalleled choice of wood aged and Vintage Ports offered from the most distinguished Port houses and estates, including rare wines and collector’s items seldom found on any wine list.
