Quinta de Covela is located in the Baião Sub-region, at the limit of the Entre Douro e Minho region. The brand was created in th mid 90´s, and in 2011 was bought by 2 investors, Marcelo Lima and Tony Smith.
After the quinta been abandoned for 2 years, this team started a recovery first focused on the vineyards, and later with the 2012 vintage on the sales and branding aspect as well. In the 18 hectares of planted vines (out of 49 hectares total), are growned the white varieties Avesso, Arinto, Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer and Viogner, and the red varieties Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Refreshing and mineral whites and elegant and unique reds are produced in a transiction terroir from the Minho granit and Douro schist.
