São João Festival

Celebrated on the evening of 23rd June, São João Festival is Porto’s most emblematic celebration and one of the most vibrant in Portugal. On this joyful occasion, the city comes alive with the spirit of São João, filled with music, grilled sardines, basil plants and the unmistakable sound of plastic hammers, as locals and visitors fill the streets commemorating in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.

At midnight, the sky becomes illuminated with spectacular fireworks over the Douro River, creating a memorable scene between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.

On the night of 23rd June, from 8:00 pm onwards enjoy a special, traditional party with typical food stalls, entertainment and live music, in a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere designed to help celebrate the longest night of the year. Guests are invited to move freely between different areas of the hotel, including the terraces, while savouring traditional Portuguese delicacies prepared by Chef Ricardo Costa, paired with a carefully curated wine selection by Wine Director Elisabete Fernandes.

At midnight, enjoy the highlight of the evening: a spectacular fireworks display over the Douro River, viewed from one of the most privileged locations in the city.

As an alternative to the main event, guests may opt for a unique experience at the Gastronomic Restaurant and enjoy the magic of Porto’s greatest celebration within The Yeatman’s two Michelin-starred setting.

Watch the fireworks from an exclusive vantage point overlooking the Douro River. At the end of dinner, guests are invited to join the São João festivities taking place on the hotel’s terraces.
