Quinta do Sagrado (Sacred Vineyard) is one of the most emblematic vineyards in the Douro, situated next to the mouth of the River Pinhão, in the heart of the Alto Corgo and the Douro.
The vineyard has belonged to the Calem family (5th and 6th Generation) for 150 years and was formerly owned by AA Calem & Sons, Ltd.
As there were no trains or tanker trucks in those days, it was built to house the Port wines produced at the Vineyard and bought from the local farmers in the region, which would then be transported by Rebelo boat (by the Monteiro de Bitetos family, in Alpendurada), to the central warehouses in Av. Diogo Leite, in Vila Nova de Gaia.
On the border of the River Douro, there are still some of the original houses in a privileged location and a renovation project is underway that will allow the Quinta to receive business partners, give a feeling for the Douro and carry out wine tastings.
