Dreaming of creating a unique wine, Celso de Lemos bought 25
hectares of vineyards surrounded by beautiful olive groves and woods in
Silgueiros in 1997, supported from the start by the creative spirit of
oenologist Hugo Chaves and the warm, commercial personality of Pierre de
Lemos.
Nestled in the sandy and granite valley of the Dão, the oldest
wine-producing region of Portugal, Quinta de Lemos is located on a
plateau at an altitude of 340 meters. The sign of the Lemos family, 4
crescents grouped in a circle, stands for the 4 directions in which this
Portuguese family explores the world, the 4 mountains surrounding the
Quinta, the 4 main local wine varieties grown there and the philosophy
of life, also based on 4 words: humanity, simplicity, vision and
sharing.
The ultimate goal is to produce a wine of
the highest quality & of the endogenous grape varieties: balanced
and distinct, reinforcing the charisma of the Dão in a way that combines
tradition and modernity, linking technology and nature together.
Annually,
the Quinta de Lemos presents different blends, as classic Dao wines ,
in addition to the various mono-varietal wines expressing the
characteristics of each grape: Jaen, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and
Alfrocheiro.
