Herdade da Calada is a unique building with unusual features. Dating back to 1854 this "jewel in the Alentejo” was built by descendants of the Duke of Lancaster.


The current owners, Jean-Claude and Mary Penauille are dedicated to this project and to the production of products of the highest quality. 

The estate includes 30 hectares of vineyards, 110 of olive groves and 280 of cereal and grassland. 

The wines of Herdade da Calada are made with regional grape varieties. 

 

The philosophy of the winery is to produce wines that best express the character of the region while at the same time 
competing  on a price to quality ratio with other international high quality wines.
