Throughout the 20th Century and into the 21st, the Symington family has been the guardian of DOW’s, building on the legacy of the preceding Silva and Dow families. Five members of the Symington family supervise all the vineyards, winemaking and ageing of DOW’s wines.
Generations of Symington winemakers have worked with DOW’s Quinta do Bomfim and Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira vineyards, creating from them DOW’s particular quality and style. DOW’s attractive and distinctive drier finish is the recognisable hallmark of the wines from this great Port house.
Dow’s Port lodge is not open to visitors but Dow’s sister company, Graham’s (owned by the same family that owns Dow’s) has an excellent visitors’ centre in its lodge with guided tours and a very well appointed shop which stocks Dow’s Ports. Go to www.grahams-port.com and click on "Visitors’ centre”. See below contacts, address GPS coordinates and Google Link to Graham's Port Lodge.
