They possess over 200 hectares of
agricultural land. Their aim is to produce high-quality wines, with a
distinct personality resulting from a special emphasis on their natural
and authentic character.
In the XIXth century its two main estates – Quinta de Paços (Barcelos)
and Casa do Capitão-Mor (Monção) – had already gained international
prestige, attested by the most ancient prizes known in the region of the
Minho: in the USA Centennial Exhibition (1876), and at the Exhibition
of Portuguese Wines in Berlin (1888).
