Our family company, run by the 4th and 5th generation of Symingtons, is founded on a deep commitment to Portugal's people, its landscapes and its wines. We are the leading vineyard owners in the Douro valley, with 26 Quintas covering a total of 2,255 ha of which 1,024 ha are under vine.
The magnificent Quinta do Vesúvio, was acquired by the Symington family in 1989, is one of the most important vineyards in the Douro, with 326 hectares of which 133 hectares are planted with vines. Quinta do Vesuvio produces wines with structure, complexity and great ageing potencial.
The Quinta’s special reputation for producing outstanding wines dates to the middle ages.
This is one of the last places on earth where the grapes are foot trodden in granite "lagares” for the making of Port Wine.
Long Famous for its Vintage Ports, the estate’s first DOC Douro wines were made at the 2007 harvest, Quinta do Vesúvio and Pombal do Vesúvio.
